The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ebonyi State has nominated Dr Ideyi Prince Gamax as its candidate for the Ebonyi South Senatorial District in Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
Gamax emerged unopposed at a fresh substitution primary held at the party’s state secretariat on August 20, 2026, securing 450 votes.
The party’s Returning Officer and Deputy Chairman in Ebonyi State, Dr Victor Uduma, said members from the Ebonyi South Senatorial District participated in the exercise.
Gamax had also emerged as the party’s candidate at an earlier primary held on April 22, 2026. He said the latest exercise followed an administrative process within the party.
The ADC candidate expressed confidence in his chances in the 2027 election, saying consultations across the senatorial district indicated that residents were seeking a change in representation.
ADC Ebonyi State Chairman, Dr Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor, described the primary as peaceful and said it was monitored by security agencies, the media and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
She said the substitution primary was conducted following a directive from the party’s national leadership and would be forwarded to the national leadership for further action.
Adibe-Nwafor also dismissed reports of another parallel primary, saying she was not aware of any other exercise.
The ADC state chairman added that the party would participate in the Ebonyi State local government elections scheduled for August 22, 2026.
