Former Nigerian lawmaker and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Sokonte Davies has resigned from the party, citing concerns over its political direction, internal processes and broader trajectory.
Davies announced his decision in a letter dated August 12 and addressed to the ADC Ward Chairman in Ward 10, Tombia, Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The former House of Representatives member previously served as National Secretary of the ADC Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration Committee.
He described his resignation as a personal and deliberate decision, stressing that it was not motivated by bitterness or hostility towards any individual, leader or member of the party.
Davies said his continued membership of the ADC was no longer consistent with the direction he considered appropriate for his political engagement and public service.
He requested that the party update its records to reflect his decision.
While leaving the ADC, Davies said he remained committed to building a better Nigeria and advancing democratic values and good governance.
