Again, police arrest suspected one chance criminals in this state

Anambra state police command has arrested two notorious armed robbery suspects who specialise in one chance robbery and handsets snatching along Ogidi/Nkpor/Tarzan and Umunya axis.

 

In a statement issued by the police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, the police recovered two firearms, twelve handsets, cash sum of N290,000 reasonably suspected to have been stolen from different victims at gun points.

The statement read: “On the 6/09/2020 at about 4:30am, following credible intelligence report, police operatives attached Ogbunike division smashed a robbery syndicate and arrested the following suspects.

 

“Chukwuemeka Ikechukwu “m’ aged 22 years of Chibest Street, Tarzan and Tochukwu Okeke ‘m’ aged 30 years of Nkwelle Ukeh in Idemili North LGA of Anambra state.

 

“Suspects were part of the gang allegedly involved in series of armed robbery and handset snatching operating at Ogidi, Nkpor, Tarzan, Umunya,Odomodo, Tollgate axis and its environs.

 

“Exhibits recovered in their possession include one automatic pump action with breech no 12776, one English manurhin pistol, one dagger, two hand bags, twelve assorted handsets, one purse containing recharge cards of various denomination, one tricycle Keke with REG number NSH 299 QH.

 

Others are one locked safe containing unspecified amount of money and cash sum of two hundred and ninety Six thousand Naira (N296,000) all reasonably suspected to have been snatched from different Victims. Case under investigation after which suspects would be brought to book.”

 

Meanwhile, the command enjoins the Public whose handsets and other belongings were either snatched or stolen through similar modus to report at Ogbunike Division or the command special anti Robbery Squad Akwuzu in order to claim their property and also give further evidence to aid Police investigation.

 

Consequently, it is interesting to note that one major factor responsible for the overall successes recorded by the command are the support of Ndi Anambra and residents alike who were observed to have been very cooperative with the personnel of the security agencies.

 

The Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang acknowledges this fact and urges the Public to sustain this level of cooperation with the Police at all times especially during this period of “EMBER MONTHS” in order to enhance safety and security in the State.
