Irene Menakaya Nursery and Primary School, Onitsha, has been approved with a special consultative status by the United Nations.
The Executive Director of the school, Mrs Christy Chukwukelu announced this during the 2021 graduation ceremony and inauguration of the kindergarten section of the school on August 1.
`With the approval, the school is now the first private school, East of the Niger to enjoy a partnership of the Ena’s kiddies Scholarship fund from the U.S.
According Mrs. Chukwukelu, the present decay in the nation’s education sector, reminds the relevant authorities of their task in rebuilding the sector.
She blamed the present state of education in the country on unhealthy collaboration involving invigilators, supervisors and other stakeholders who aid malpractices in examination halls.
Mrs Chukwukelu noted that the ugly collaboration had contributed a lot toward the present state of education with attendant spill over impacts on the entire nation.
`All hands must be on deck for necessary rebirth in the global economy,’’ Chukwukelu said.
The educationist, then, called on the authorities to monitor and check the activities of all persons in examination halls.
No fewer than 68 pupils graduated during the event, which also featured an inauguration of the kindergarten section of the school.
