Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, the legislator representing Delta North Senatorial District in the Federal Legislative Chamber, has expressed his appreciation for the commitment and dedication of Hon. Peter Onwusanya(JNR), the Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Youth Mobilization. Senator Nwoko commended Hon. Onwusanya for his dedication in assisting the Governor to pilot the affairs of youths in the state.
Senator Nwoko extended his commendations during a courtesy visit to his country home Mount Ned, in Idumuje-Ugboko, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, on Sunday, by the Special Assistant and his team.
Nwoko remarked that Onwusanya’s appointment as Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization was a thoroughly justified choice, given his possession of the requisite skills to effectively aid the Governor in mobilizing the state’s youth population.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception extended to him and his team, the Special Assistant also praised Senator Nwoko for his significant impact on the Senate floor. This is evident in his membership in more than 17 committees, which notably include NDDC, NEPAD, TETFUND, Gas, Upstream Petroleum, Works, Finance, Defense, Police, Drugs and Narcotics, Communications, State and Local Government, Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes, with a particularly prominent role in the Youths and Sports committee.
Senator Nwoko conveyed his interest to meet with all the Special Assistants to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, who are responsible for Youth Mobilization and Development. The purpose of this meeting is to foster collaboration between them and their counterparts at the state and federal levels, with the aim of unlocking the untapped potential of the youth in Delta and across Nigeria.
Senator Nwoko also requested that Special Assistant Onwusanya convene a meeting of all the Special Assistants dedicated to Youth Development and Mobilization. This gathering will serve as a platform for comprehensive discussions on youth-related matters.
Senator Nwoko, affectionately known as Dike Anioma, expressed his gratitude for Onwusanya’s visit, saying, “You are most welcome. This visit holds a special place in my thoughts, and I’ve longed to meet with you and all the Special Assistants in Delta State.
“So, when you return, please assemble them. We need to engage in discussions to explore collaborations with other states and federal counterparts to bring out the best in our youth. You are well-suited for this task. Thank you for your visit.”
The Senator commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for appointing over sixty percent of his executive members as youths, describing this gesture as rare and visionary.
“The selection of appointees in Delta State by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori deserves praise. His government is infused with energetic youths. This is a remarkable rarity. The government truly embraces the spirit of youth,” he remarked.
Hon. Onwusanya expressed his gratitude to the Senator for the warm welcome and assured him that he would promptly establish a committee of Special Assistants to collaborate with the Senator’s office to empower Delta’s youth.
One of the team members, Hon. Henry Okolo, widely known as LasBoi, a prominent Youth Leader in Oshimili South and an entertainer, thanked the Senator for his audience, assuring that Delta’s youth will always support him.
LasBoi also used the opportunity to inform the Senator about his upcoming concert on November 26, 2023, in Asaba, and the positive impact it would have on the youth. The Senator assured him of his physical presence, as a means to bring the youth together for progress.
Another team member, Hon. Okpunor Harvest, who represents Oshimili South constituency in the Delta State Youth Parliament, thanked the Senator for his contributions to youth development in the state, noting that the Senator’s achievements in various aspects of life have already set a standard for youth to emulate.
