The President of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Youth Wing, Ughere Blessing, has endorsed Senator Ede Dafinone for a second term in the Senate, citing the lawmaker’s accessibility, responsiveness and interventions aimed at creating opportunities for Urhobo youths.
Ughere made the endorsement in a statement on his official Facebook page, where he urged Urhobo youths to support Dafinone’s re-election bid, arguing that political support should be based on the impact elected representatives make in the lives of their constituents.
He highlighted the participation of 20 Urhobo youths in the ongoing Niger Delta Community Development Board (NCDMB) Media and Communication Training as an example of what he described as Dafinone’s responsiveness to constituent requests.
According to Ughere, he approached the senator after learning about the training programme in September last year and appealed for opportunities for Urhobo youths.
“I reached out to him immediately. Without hesitation, he contacted the Board, and within two days, I was asked to submit 20 names for the training,” he said.
Ughere said the 20 nominees are currently participating in the programme and have been performing well, describing the intervention as one of several opportunities he attributed to Dafinone’s efforts to support Urhobo youths.
“Beyond words, Senator Ede Dafinone has consistently shown that he is a leader who listens and acts,” he said.
The UPU Youth Wing president also commended Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori alongside Dafinone for what he described as their responsiveness to the aspirations of the Urhobo people.
He said the experience of the 20 trainees demonstrated how connecting young people with skills-development opportunities could produce long-term benefits by improving their skills, confidence and prospects.
“The opportunity you gave these 20 youths is an investment in their skills, confidence, and future. May God continue to strengthen you,” Ughere said.
Ughere further argued that continuity in political representation would give Dafinone the opportunity to consolidate on initiatives undertaken during his first term.
He therefore called on Urhobo youths to support the senator’s second-term ambition.
“For this reason, Urhobo youths must rally around Senator Ede Dafinone and support him to complete all that he has started,” he said.
Reaffirming his position, Ughere declared his personal support for Dafinone’s re-election, describing the senator as a representative who has demonstrated a willingness to listen and respond to the needs of his constituents.
“Therefore, I endorse him and I support him for a second term,” he declared.
