The political atmosphere in Delta Central Senatorial District reached a remarkable crescendo as Ede Dafinone formally declared his intention to seek a second term in the Nigeria Senate. What unfolded in Ughelli was not just another political event; it was a powerful demonstration of unity, endorsement, and a growing consensus within the All Progressives Congress (APC) that Dafinone represents continuity, stability, and purposeful leadership.

From the massive turnout at Oharisi Primary School to the resounding endorsements by party leaders, stakeholders, and grassroots supporters, one message stood unmistakably clear: within the APC in Delta Central, Ede Dafinone is not just a contender he is the chosen and anointed candidate.

Political declarations are often routine, but this was not just an ordinary one. The scale, energy, and symbolism of the gathering in Ughelli reflected something deeper than mere political ambition. It represented confidence earned, trust built, and leadership validated. As party faithful flooded the venue, effectively bringing Ughelli to a standstill, the visual narrative told its own story.

This was not a rented crowd or a symbolic gathering, it was a genuine show of solidarity from people who have witnessed governance at work and are willing to stand behind it.

In his address, Dafinone spoke not like a politician chasing votes, but like a leader reflecting on responsibility. He emphasized service, integrity, and accountability values he credited to the legacy of his late father, David Dafinone. This connection between legacy and leadership added depth to his message, reinforcing the idea that his political journey is rooted in principle rather than opportunism.

One of the most defining aspects of the declaration was the overwhelming endorsement from APC leaders across Delta Central. Influential stakeholders such as Paulinus Akpeki and other party figures did more than attending, they openly aligned with Dafinone’s second term bid. In political dynamics, endorsements are rarely accidental. They are calculated, strategic, and often indicative of internal consensus. The presence and vocal support of respected figures like Ighoyota Amori and O’tega Emerhor send a strong signal that within party structures, Dafinone has already secured significant ground.

Even more telling was the unified endorsement of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Sheriff Oborevwori for 2027, alongside Dafinone. This alignment places him within a wider political framework, strengthening his position not just locally, but within the national and state political architecture.

In essence, the APC in Delta Central has spoken with one voice and that voice echoes Dafinone’s name.

While party endorsement is crucial, the more profound question remains: is Ede Dafinone the choice of the people of Delta Central? Increasingly, the answer is yes.

Leadership legitimacy does not come solely from political structures; it is earned through impact. Across the eight local government areas of Delta Central, Dafinone’s footprint is visible in tangible and meaningful ways. From the installation of transformers in underserved communities to the deployment of solar street lights in areas once plagued by darkness, his interventions have addressed real, everyday challenges. These are not abstract policy achievements they are practical solutions that directly improve lives.

In towns and communities across the district, the difference is evident. Where there was once uncertainty, there is now stability. Where there was neglect, there is now attention. For many residents, these changes are not just developmental, they are personal, touching daily life in ways that build trust and reinforce confidence in leadership.

Perhaps one of the strongest pillars of Dafinone’s leadership is his investment in people. His approach goes beyond infrastructure, focusing on long term empowerment through education, technology, and youth development. The establishment of ICT centres in schools across Effurun, Ugbokodo, Orhuwhorun, and Ogor reflects a deliberate strategy to prepare young people for a digital future.

In a world increasingly driven by technology, such foresight is not just commendable, it is essential.
His support for students and educational institutions further point to a commitment to building a foundation for sustainable growth. By investing in education, he is not only addressing present challenges but also shaping the future of Delta Central.

At a time when economic hardship is a national reality, Dafinone’s empowerment programmes have provided a lifeline to thousands. By distributing tools such as sewing machines, generators, ovens, grinding machines, and agricultural equipment, he has created opportunities for self reliance. These interventions go beyond temporary relief; they enable individuals to build livelihoods, support families, and contribute to the local economy.

His efforts in facilitating access to federal programmes and employment opportunities have also had a far reaching impact. In a country where job opportunities are limited, such interventions are transformative, offering stability and hope to many households.

Healthcare remains a critical challenge across Nigeria, and Dafinone’s interventions in this sector further strengthen his case for continuity. Through medical outreach programmes conducted across the district, thousands have received free healthcare services. For many, these initiatives have been lifesaving. His support for health institutions demonstrates a commitment not just to immediate care, but to strengthening the system itself.

Beyond projects and programmes, his responsiveness during moments of crisis has reinforced his connection with the people. Leadership is often defined in difficult times, and his engagement during challenging situations has shown empathy, courage, and a willingness to stand with his constituents when it matters most.

Another factor that distinguishes Dafinone is his professional background. As an economist, chartered accountant, and seasoned businessman, he brings technical expertise to governance. In a period marked by economic uncertainty and complex policy challenges, such competence is invaluable.

His contributions at the Senate level reflect a leader who understands both the political and economic dimensions of governance.

As the APC prepares for its primaries, the endorsement for Dafinone’s second term continues to gain strength.

Continuity in leadership is not merely a political slogan; it is a practical necessity for sustained development. The projects currently underway, the programmes already in motion, and the relationships built within government structures all require time to reach their full potential.

Disrupting this progress carries risks, while sustaining it offers the promise of deeper impact. For many in Delta Central, the choice is becoming increasingly clear. This is not about sentiment or political loyalty alone, it is about performance, results, and trust.

The declaration in Ughelli was more than a campaign launch; it was a statement of confidence. It showed that within the APC, Dafinone has emerged as the consensus candidate, the one around whom the party is rallying. At the same time, his track record has positioned him as a preferred choice among the people.

As Delta Central looks toward 2027, the momentum generated by this declaration cannot be ignored. It reflects a broader alignment between party leadership and public sentiment, a rare convergence that often defines successful political movements.

In the end, leadership is measured not by promises, but by impact. And by every available measure, development, empowerment, responsiveness, and competence, Ede Dafinone has built a compelling case for continuity.

The decision ultimately rests with the people, but the direction is already becoming evident. In Delta Central today, the voice of endorsement is growing louder, and it is speaking with clarity, confidence, and conviction in support of Ede Dafinone’s second term.
