Prominent traditional rulers, politicians, friends, and frontline former militant leaders have showered encomiums on Chief Ebikabowei Victor-Ben, also known as General Boyloaf, on his birthday celebration, describing him as a testament to commitment to regional and national peace, development, and true governance.

The political class extolled him for his significant role during the 2022/2023 Presidential Campaign Council, commending his political engagement as a testament to his dedication to national development and governance.

Frontline ex-Niger Delta agitators also praised his decision to distinguish himself through a remarkable blend of academic, professional, and activist achievements.

Chief Ebikabowei Victor-Ben, famously known as General Boyloaf, holds a Master’s degree with Distinction in Intelligence and Global Security, and a Bachelor of Science degree with First Class Honours in International Relations and Diplomacy. In addition to his formal education, he has earned numerous certifications in International Security and Conflict Resolution, further solidifying his expertise in these crucial areas.

Beyond academia, Chief Victor-Ben has earned his place in significant political and social arenas. Notably, he served as the Secretary of the Special Duties 4 Committee in the Asiwaju-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council during the 2022/2023 election cycle. His active political engagement exemplifies his dedication to national development and governance.

A defining chapter of Chief Victor-Ben’s life is his role as a co-founder of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), where he vigorously advocated for the rights and development of the Niger Delta region. Despite being rich in natural resources, the region has long suffered from underdevelopment and environmental degradation. His relentless efforts culminated in the direct collaboration with the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to establish the Presidential Amnesty Programme in 2009. This program aimed to rehabilitate and reintegrate former militants into society, fostering peace and stability in the region.

Demonstrating exceptional leadership, Chief Victor-Ben was the first major ex-militant leader in the Niger Delta to publicly endorse the Presidential Amnesty. He led by example, ordering thousands of his followers to disarm and embrace the amnesty initiative, significantly contributing to the peace process. His actions were pivotal in reducing armed conflict and creating a more secure environment in the Niger Delta.

Affectionately referred to as the “Master and Commander of the Atlantic Ocean” and a formidable war machine by thousands of his followers across the Niger Delta region, Chief Victor-Ben has, in recent years, dedicated his efforts to combating crude oil and gas theft. This growing menace severely undermines Nigeria’s economy, and Chief Victor-Ben continues to utilize his background in intelligence to gather critical surveillance and human intelligence to expose and counteract those involved in these illicit activities. His aim is to collaborate with the federal government to curb these illegal actions and protect the nation’s vital economic resources and infrastructure.

Chief Ebikabowei Victor-Ben’s journey stands as a powerful fusion of academic excellence, political involvement, and unwavering activism. His contributions to peace, security, and economic stability in the Niger Delta and beyond have made him an important figure in Nigeria’s contemporary history. His leadership and dedication continue to inspire national development and efforts toward conflict resolution.
