Ogun Police Finally Catch ‘Pastor Kenny’ After 4-Month Hunt—Victims Left Praying for Refunds
Abeokuta, Nigeria – He promised his congregation a divine journey to the Holy Land, but instead, they got a one-way ticket to financial ruin.
Kehinde Makinde, the self-styled man of God better known as “Pastor Kenny,” has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly swindling 18 church members out of ₦2.5 million in a fake government-backed pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
According to police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the self-proclaimed pastor was finally apprehended in Ibadan on August 3, 2026, after four grueling months of surveillance and manhunt.
Makinde had reportedly convinced his unsuspecting followers at a fellowship in Saje, Adatan, that he had secured a state-sponsored trip to Israel—with each participant promised ₦2 million in benefits. But while the flock packed their spiritual bags, the only thing that took flight was their money.
The fraud doesn’t end there. Police investigations reveal that Makinde has been operating across Ogun, Oyo, and Osun States, using “spiritual deliverance” as a smokescreen to defraud vulnerable victims.
“The suspect remains in Police custody while efforts continue to identify additional victims and apprehend his accomplices,” Babaseyi confirmed.
