A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta state chapter and political leader of thought in Delta Central Senatorial District, Chief Godwin Ogbetuo, has reiterated his unflinching support for the guber candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, ahead of the March 11th governorship election.
The nonagenarian, a contemporary of Chief Edwin Clark, a foremost Ijaw leader, left the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), over underdevelopment to pitch tent with APC in 2019.
The APC stalwart, openly endorsed Gbagi, a former minister of state for education and SDP gubernatorial candidate after he woke up from a dream where he saw the largest private investor in the state, being sworn-in as governor, three years ago.
Ogbetuo had cautioned the APC governorship candidate and Deputy Senate President and Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, not to consider vying for the governorship position.
He said his blessing was given to Omo-Agege, to have a taste of the Senate which he (Omo-Agege) has enjoyed and not for governorship of the state.
The 92 years old politician noted that his dream three years ago, which led to him praying for Gbagi, remains spiritual and sacrosanct.
The political juggernaut who is addressed as”Achoja r Urhobo”, meaning, “let us redeemed Urhobo from suffering”, wished the renowned criminologist landslide victory in the forthcoming general election.
Pa Ogbetuo, who hails from Samagidi-Kokori community in Ethiope east local government area of the state, advised the whole state not to gamble but vote Gbagi to end the pains of Deltans.
n his prayers for the former chairman, Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, through text message, Ogbetuo said: “Silver and Gold have I none but prayers.
“May the Most high GOD grant you longevity, heath and success as
the GOVERNOR of DELTA in
2023, AMEN”, Chief Ogbetuo, prayed.
He recalled the countless sacrifices Gbagi has made in the past to keep the unity of Nigeria, and the gallant and giants strides he brought to bear as minister, saying Gbagi would steer the ship of the state towards greatness.
