A renowned technocrat in the oil industry and political guru in Uvwie, Mr. Sunny Eru, a.k.a the Ekweshele 1 of Uvwie Kingdom, has called for a radical change in the political leadership of Uvwie local government area of Delta state.

Mr. Eru, who noted his intention of throwing his weight behind a frontline chairmanship aspirant in Uvwie, Chief Anthony Ofoni, in the forth coming Delta state local government council election, said the time has come for a visionary, competent and inclusive leadership that truly cares about the people and the local government area.

The oil magnet who is popularly bynamed as the ‘Okweshele’ 1 of Uvwie kingdom while speaking to newsmen in his country home, Ugbomro, Uvwie local government, called for the support of the chairmanship aspiration of Chief Anthony Ofoni. According to him, “Let us continue to support the aspiration of Chief Anthony Ofoni for Chairman in Uvwie council. The time has come for a leadership that is equipped with the skills, intellect and competence to navigate a decisive war against poverty and unemployment in the local government,” e stated.

Mr. Eru, who bare his mind on the forth- coming local government election and the political antecedence in Uvwie said, ” as a people, we are collectively exhausted by these politicians who continually fall in and out of alliances with the developmental growth of the council area and they care nothing for the ordinary masses of Uvwie local government area. They offer nothing new and they aggravate our fears in the hope that we will continue to keep them in power”. The ‘Okweshele’ 1 stated.

“I think the time has come for a paradigm shift, and what we need now is a real development of the people, by a leader and, most importantly for the people of Uvwie to move our local government area forward and enhance our development”.

Chief Ofoni has offered himself as part of that paradigm shift and I believe in his smartness, ingenuity, drive, relentlessness, vision, and sheer force of will and I know he is one leader who will be able to harness our strengths, resources and make them work for us here in the council”.

“We must stop recycling politicians from one particular zone and regenerate our leadership ranks with competent and experienced men or women. We must thrive on the frontiers of equity and fairness for development to erupt in all nooks and crannies of Uvwie”. Eru stated.

Mr. Sunny Eru noted that, the forthcoming local government area election must be used as a political turning point by party delegates and the electorates, of Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State, adding that,  the basis of governance, is to care for the people especially at the grassroots.
