NAS takes Menstrual Hygiene campaign to Bayelsa community, donate menstrual pads to over 300 women

The National Association of Seadogs (NAS) also known as Pyrate Confraternity weekend marks the 2024 International Women’s Day with a Female hygiene campaign to the Tungbo Community in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The Menstrual Hygiene and Economic Empowerment by NAS, Oxbow Marino Deck, was carried out in collaboration with the Late Chief Egberi Binafeigha Foundation to mark the 2024 International Women’s Day with the theme “Empower Her”.

The Representative of the Late Chief Egberi Binafeigha Foundation, Mr. Timiebi Binafeigha emphasized his late father’s belief in the education and empowerment of the girl child.

He expressed the importance of continuing his father’s legacy through such humanitarian efforts.

Also speaking, Mr. Tim Egboneje, who represented the National Association of Seadogs Oxbow Marino Deck, underlined the significance of educating girls,” Educating a girl positively impacts an entire community. He encouraged the women in attendance to recognize their importance in every aspect of life.”

Earlier, Princess Ebikiemo conducted an advocacy session on menstrual hygiene, focusing on the importance of proper hygiene practices and providing valuable information to women and girls.

On his part, Zebedee Loveday conducted an advocacy session on women empowerment, highlighting the significance of enabling women to reach their full potential in all spheres of life.

One of the highlights of the event was the donation of menstrual pads to over 300 women and girls in the Tungbo Community. This gesture was a thoughtful contribution to improving their hygiene and overall well-being.

Representing the Late Chief Egberi Binafeigha Foundation, Mr. Timiebi Binafeigha emphasized his late father’s belief in the education and empowerment of the girl child. He expressed the importance of continuing his father’s legacy through such humanitarian efforts.

In addition, Mr. Tim Egboneje, speaking on behalf of the National Association of Seadogs Oxbow Marino Deck, underlined the significance of educating girls. Educating a girl positively impacts an entire community. He encouraged the women in attendance to recognize their importance in every aspect of life.

On behalf of the Tungbo Community, the Committee Development Chairman, Mr. Sheque Lokoja, expressed gratitude to the National Association of Seadogs Oxbow Marino Deck and the Late Chief Egberi Binafeigha Foundation for their kind gesture. He also appealed for the continuation of similar activities in their community, acknowledging the positive impact they have on the livelihoods of the women and girls of Tungbo.

This collaborative event successfully honored International Women’s Day while bringing attention to the importance of menstrual hygiene and women’s empowerment. Through the donation of menstrual pads, the event contributed to improving the quality of life for over 300 women and girls.

The Late Chief Egberi Binafeigha Foundation and the National Association of Seadogs Oxbow Marino Deck demonstrated their commitment to uplifting and empowering women, leaving a lasting positive impression on the Tungbo Community.
