The Anti-Pipeline Vandalization/Oil Theft & Illegal Bunkering Task Force, a key Niger Delta-based group focused on protecting oil infrastructure, has commended Isiyaku Abdullahi, the Executive Vice President, Downstream at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), for his ongoing reforms, impressive performance, and the positive impact his leadership has had on the downstream sector of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
The task force lauded the reforms initiated under Abdullahi’s leadership, recognizing that they have significantly transformed the downstream segment of the oil and gas value chain. The Task Force particularly praised his ability to instigate changes that are already yielding positive results for the nation’s economy.
Comrade Pathfinder Fiawei, National Coordinator of the Anti-Pipeline Vandalization/Oil Theft & Illegal Bunkering Task Force, emphasized that Abdullahi’s extensive experience in the oil and gas sector made him the ideal choice for his current role. Fiawei cited Abdullahi’s previous positions, including his time as Business Advisor to the Group General Manager/CEO (NAPIMS), Managing Director of PPMC, and Group General Manager of Accounts/Financial Controller at NNPC HQ, all of which demonstrated his competence and outstanding performance.
“Abdullahi’s track record has been remarkable, from his days at NAPIMS to overseeing PPMC’s affairs and later excelling in the financial arm of NNPC,” said Fiawei. “His deep expertise and ability to manage large-scale operations have made him an effective leader, and we are seeing the results of his leadership firsthand.”
The task force noted that Abdullahi’s reforms have contributed to increasing the profitability of PPMC, which has seen its annual profits rise from N3 billion to N19 billion. Under his leadership, NNPC also published its first audited financial statements in 44 years, which has saved millions of dollars for the federal government.
“We have closely observed the positive changes driven by Abdullahi and his team, including the development of strategic financial plans, improved financial models, and the successful execution of various projects aimed at strengthening the downstream sector,” Fiawei stated.
The Task Force expressed their full support for Abdullahi’s ongoing efforts and pledged to continue working alongside NNPCL to ensure the success of the reforms. “We stand with you, Mr. Abdullahi, as you continue to drive reforms and transform the downstream oil and gas sector. We are committed to supporting your mission and tackling the issues of pipeline vandalism and illegal bunkering,” Fiawei added.
Additionally, the group promised to partner with NNPCL in enforcing transparency, accountability, and combating criminal activities in the sector, particularly those involving the sabotage of oil infrastructure. The task force emphasized the importance of a united effort to protect the country’s oil wealth, especially as Nigeria’s four major refineries come back on stream.
“We are determined to work with your office to bring an end to the harmful activities of pipeline vandals and illegal bunkering syndicates. Together, we can protect the future of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, ensure economic stability, and bring prosperity to the nation,” concluded Fiawei.
