The Delta state senatorial primaries slated for May 20, 2026 may end as consensus candidates would be picked.
A top official of the party confided in The Pond News that Senator Ned Nwoko of Delta North, Senator Ovie Omo Agege of Delta Central and Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas are the favourites.
The source said that the party is scout ready to reward long standing members of the party.
In the case of Delta North senatorial, the presidency doubts the loyalty of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as a former presidential running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on the platform of PDP.
As for Delta central, Senator Ede Dafinone is to be sacrificed for Ovie Omo Agege.
It is an arrangement to compensate Omo Agege for dropping his governorship ambition to support Governor Sheriff Oborewvori.
In Delta South senatorial district, Joel-Onowakpo Thomas is to return to the senate because of his dedication to the party.
It was also agreed that the Ijaw nation shall produce the next governor in line with the rotation of power in Delta State after Governor Sheriff Oborewvori.
Some senatorial aspirants are only on the media and not ready to pay N20m to buy a form akin to shooting in the dark.
