NIGERIA FIRES BACK: “Afrophobic” Attacks in SA Won’t Be Tolerated

Nigeria has drawn a line in the sand, demanding justice and reparations after a brutal wave of attacks targeted its citizens in South Africa—and warning that diplomacy has its limits.

“We are not helpless,” declared Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, after briefing President Bola Tinubu. “All options are still on the table.”

Key Demands:

. Compensation for Nigerians who lost property—official claims forms now being distributed
· Activation of the Early Warning Mechanism to prevent future attacks
·  Evacuation of nearly 1,500 Nigerians already repatriated
·  Accountability—South Africa agrees even criminals have a right to life

“Afrophobic, Not Xenophobic”

Enikanolaiye insisted the violence targeting Africans specifically demands a stronger label—and President Tinubu agreed. The president’s “very close relationship” with South African leader Ramaphosa is now being leveraged to stop the bloodshed.

But patience is wearing thin.

Nigeria’s Warning Shot

“Nigeria has options,” the minister said firmly. “We would prefer diplomacy and negotiations… but all options are still on the table.”

With a formal claims process underway and data being gathered on losses, Nigeria is preparing to press for concrete reparations. The message? Africa must unite—or face the consequences.
