UK Court Jails Nigerian Student for 7 Years in Brutal TikTok Dance Robbery

Teen forced partygoers to dance at knifepoint, filmed humiliating ordeals for social media

A 19-year-old Nigerian student has been sentenced to seven years in a UK prison for his role in a shocking robbery scheme that forced victims to perform TikTok dances under the threat of violence.

Oluwatobiloba Akinrinola and his accomplice Richile Vangu, 20, were convicted at Leicester Crown Court for terrorizing partygoers in North Kilworth, Leicestershire, on November 21, 2025.

Knife-point humiliation

The duo herded at least eight men into a bedroom, threatened them with a large knife, and stole designer clothes and an iPhone. Vangu demanded £1,000 from each victim, threatening to stab them in the leg if they refused—then forced them to dance for social media content.

But the nightmare didn’t end there.

Victims who couldn’t pay were ordered to a student accommodation on Bath Lane, where Akinrinola forced them to do star jumps and high knees before repeatedly punching them. Vangu flogged others with a belt, shot them in the head with a BB gun, and threatened to cut off their dreadlocks.

Social media evidence

The pair posted videos of both incidents on TikTok—footage that later became key evidence against them.

Judge Steven Evans said Akinrinola played “an essential part” in the offences, despite being “subservient” to Vangu.

Vangu’s sentence: 11 years (4 counts robbery, 10 counts blackmail, 1 count actual bodily harm)

Akinrinola’s sentence: 7 years (9 counts blackmail, 4 counts robbery, 2 counts actual bodily harm)
