A disagreement over a mandatory transport union ticket has ended in tragedy in Taraba State, northeastern Nigeria, where a commercial tricycle union pass distributor was stabbed to death during an argument with an operator.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at Angwan Kassa Junction in Jalingo, the state capital. According to police, the victim stopped a commercial tricycle driver who was operating without the required daily union ticket. What began as a routine enforcement quickly escalated into a heated confrontation.
During the altercation, the pass distributor was stabbed and later died from his injuries despite efforts to save him.
The Taraba State Police Command confirmed the arrest of two suspects linked to the incident. Police spokesperson ASP Victor Mshelizah said both suspects are in custody and will be charged in court after investigations are completed.
The killing has also disrupted public transportation along the affected route, as commercial tricycle operators temporarily suspended operations. The development left many commuters stranded, forcing residents to walk long distances in search of alternative transport.Authorities say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the deadly attack.
