The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has lifted the remaining portion of Bendel Insurance head coach Kennedy Boboye’s suspension, clearing the way for him to return to the dugout ahead of the 2026–27 season.

The decision was communicated in a letter signed by NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi on Wednesday.
According to the league body, Boboye’s written apology and conduct during the period of his suspension were considered before the decision was taken.

The NPFL Board also took into account his previous contributions to Nigerian football, both as a former player and as a technical member of the national team.
The Board said it had decided to suspend the remaining period of his sanction.
However, the league warned Boboye that the suspended portion of his punishment would be enforced if he repeats similar misconduct during the new season.

Boboye had originally been handed a 17-match suspension after being found guilty of gross misconduct towards a match official during Bendel Insurance’s 2-2 draw against Plateau United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

He was also ordered to pay a fine over the incident.
The latest decision means the experienced coach can now resume his duties with Bendel Insurance as the club prepares for the new NPFL campaign.
The return of Boboye is expected to provide the Benin-based club with greater stability as preparations intensify for the 2026–27 season.
