Peter Obi has issued a strong warning over alleged threats targeting Accord Party members ahead of Saturday’s Osun State governorship election, demanding an apology from Senator Francis Fadahunsi.
Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), condemned what he described as inflammatory and threat-laden remarks allegedly made by Fadahunsi, saying such statements could deepen tensions and increase the risk of electoral violence.

The controversy followed a viral video in which Fadahunsi was allegedly heard warning Accord Party members against being found in Ilesa ahead of the election.
Obi expressed concern that such remarks were allegedly coming from a serving member of Nigeria’s National Assembly, stressing that political leaders have a responsibility to protect democracy and promote peace rather than create fear among citizens.

He said elections must remain a peaceful process through which voters freely choose their leaders without intimidation, harassment or coercion.
Obi called on Fadahunsi to retract the alleged remarks and apologise to the people of Osun State.
He also urged political parties, candidates and supporters to moderate their language and avoid actions capable of escalating tensions as the election approaches.

The former Anambra State governor further called on security agencies to take inflammatory political statements seriously and provide equal protection for voters, electoral officials and other citizens.
According to Obi, Nigeria’s democratic mandate belongs to the people and must never be subjected to threats or political intimidation.
He urged Osun residents to remain calm, peaceful and focused on exercising their constitutional right to vote.
