The wife of Delta state governor and Founder 05 Initiative, Dame Edith Okowa, has called on Deltans to avail themselves of the 05 Initiative free grassroots medical outreach for Delta North, holding at the Events Center, Asaba.
A statement signed by the special sssistant on media to the governor’s wife Mrs. Alicia Dominic-Okobi, says the event, organized by the 05 Initiative in collaboration with the Restore Sight Africa Initiative and the state ninistry of health, is the grand finale of the medical outreach for 2021 edition.
According to the statement, the event will hold for 5 days at the Events Center Asaba, from October 19th to Saturday 23, 2021, starting from 8 in the morning, each day.
It will feature free eye tests, provision of free eye glasses and eye ointments, free eye surgeries, as well as free COVID-19 tests and other general body screening.
Emerald News reports that the 2021 05 Initiative grassroots medical outreach started on the 6th of October in Delta Central, where a total of 108 free eye surgeries were successfully carried out, and over 500 eye drops and 400 glasses given out.
The medical team had moved to Delta South on the 16th of October, with a record of 111 free eye surgeries, and distribution of 669 eye glasses and 500 eye drops.
In the statement, the governor’s wife urged leaders in the Delta North axis to mobilise indigenes of the area to enable them benefit, adding that the scourge of blindness and other forms of illnesses in the society could be reduced to the barest minimum, if everyone reached out to their neighbor according to their capability.
