Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 election, on Saturday said he “absolutely has no issue” with Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State.
According to POLITICS NIGERIA, Peter Obi spoke after addressing candidates of the Labour Party for the March 18 House of Assembly election.
Obi said, “By God’s grace, they will win on Saturday and contribute in building a better Anambra State. I thank those who are supporting us and I want the best candidates to win. Election is not war.
“Let me say categorically that I absolutely have no issue with the governor. Both of us remain friends and we enjoy the best of relationship.
“We can have political differences, but the fact remains that he is the governor of the state.”
This newspaper recalls that Soludo appeared to have fallen out of favour with Obi after he predicted, last November, that Obi (a former governor of Anambra State) would not win the 2023 presidential election, citing a “lack of political structure” and poor voting strength of the South-east, where the Labour Party candidate hails from.
He had further claimed that Obi’s entry into the race was going to help the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu, to win the presidential election.
Several persons, believed to be supporters of the Labour Party candidate, condemned Soludo for the comments
