BORNO, Nigeria – In a startling checkpoint bust, troops have arrested a 28-year-old pregnant woman, Falmata Adamu, for allegedly smuggling essential supplies to Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists.
The arrest went down on July 13 along the Mandaragirau–Biu road during a routine Operation Hadin Kai stop-and-search. But what raised eyebrows wasn’t just the suspect it was what she had hidden beneath her civilian clothing: 17 torchlights and 19 Tiger batteries, items intelligence sources say were destined for a terrorist enclave.
“She was conveying logistics to fuel insurgent operations,” a security source told Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication.
Adamu is now in custody as investigators dig deeper to uncover who she was supplying and whether she’s part of a larger terrorist logistics chain.
While the northeast theatre remains relatively calm, troops aren’t letting their guard down knowing all too well that insurgents rely on sneaky supply lines like this to survive.
