Priorities Gone Wrong: Oyedepo Mocks FG Over Bus Sermons as Nigeria Bleeds

Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, has fired back at the Federal Government over the proposed ₦50,000 fine for preaching in commercial buses, saying the real issue isn’t sermons—it’s bloodshed.

While the Senate insists the FRSC Act amendment is about commuter safety and has been on the books since 2007, Oyedepo isn’t buying it. In a fiery sermon at Canaanland, Ota, he dismissed the debate as a distraction, demanding that the government tackle the real scourge: insecurity and mass killings.

“You can’t slaughter members of my family and want me to pray for you. I pray against you,” he declared, turning his pulpit into a prophetic courtroom.

He didn’t stop there. The outspoken cleric called out unnamed sponsors of violence, placing a curse on “every sponsor of killers in Nigeria,” and slammed the government’s silence: “I have not heard any statement from government quarters against the killings. Is our human life no longer of value?”

His verdict? While the government fusses over bus preachers, the nation burns. And he won’t be silent.
