The screening committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state from the party primaries. The primaries are billed to hold on June 22, 2020 in Benin City, the Edo state capital.
The chairman of the committee is Professor Jonathan Ayuba. Ayuba told journalists that the Obaseki’s Higher School Certificate is defective. But the same Ayuba seems to have forgotten that President Muhammadu Buhari has been having running battle with Nigerians over certificate issues.
According to Ayuba, the committee cannot verify the genuineness of Obaski’s National Youth Service Corps discharge certificate.
In a story published by Aledeh.com, the chairman said the name on the NYSC certificate bears Obasek instead of Obaseki. Arising from the above the committee said Obaski cannot contest the election with such defects.
Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the party, was happy and commended the committee for doing a “good job”.
