The Delta North senator-elect, Prince Ned Nwoko, on Monday, 29 May, joined the rest of the state to celebrate the inauguration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba.
Speaking to newsmen at the event, Nwoko who evidently supported all Delta PDP candidates in the just concluded general elections, again, noted that Oborevwori’s win was a well deserved victory, having shown the leadership qualities of resilience, focus and accommodation as the longest serving speaker of the state House of Assembly.
Nwoko voiced his confidence in Oborevwori’s leadership abilities and assured his support as a senator to collaborate in any capacity to further the governor’s initiatives and contribute to the progress of Delta state.
He said, “Oborevwori’s inauguration as Delta state governor is a testament to his experience and unwavering commitment to public service.
“As he steps into his role as Governor, I have every confidence in his ability to navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
“I assure him and all Deltans my steadfast support and readiness to collaborate in any capacity to further his administration’s initiatives and contribute to the progress of Delta state.”
Responding to his views on Okowa-led administration, Nwoko acknowledged that the former governor has done remarkably well in infrastructure advancement and fostering statewide harmony. However, he also recognized the need for further work in Delta state.
“Governor Okowa has made remarkable progress in infrastructure development, particularly in the construction and revitalization of roads, bridges, and highways, recognizing the importance of a robust transportation network.
“His leadership has also been marked by a steadfast commitment in fostering unity and inclusivity in our diverse state. He clearly understood that our collective success depends on our ability to respect and celebrate our differences while finding common grounds.
“It is a relief that the person who the mantle has been handed over to is someone we all believe can maintain the already existing statewide harmony, because like I mentioned earlier, there are still a lot to be done in Delta and we need the harmony to work collectively irrespective of political party affiliations,” he said.
