This is our moment to move forward, Senator Nwoko says as he reels out projects for Anioma people

Sen Ned Nwoko Addresses Constituents, Promises Not To Relent

My dear Anioma brothers and sisters,

I speak to you today as your representative, your advocate and your voice, a voice that will never be silenced in the face of injustice. Anioma has waited long enough. We have contributed immensely to Delta State and Nigeria, yet when it is time for development, all we receive are empty promises and excuses.

For too long, our demands for basic necessities have been ignored:

The stepping down of power from Okpai, which would light up our towns, drive commerce, and create jobs, yet remains a distant dream.

Water from the Ogwashi-Uku Dam, a resource that should be serving our people but lies wasted while our communities struggle.

Good roads that would connect our people, boost agriculture and open up trade, yet key projects like the Asaba-Ugbolu-Illah Road, Kwale-Ogume-Amai-Obiaruku Road and Idumuje-Ugboko Road remain neglected.

A Delta State Airline, which could transform our economy and attract investment, remains just a proposal because of the lack of vision and political will.

A Delta State Rail Network, a bold solution to ease transportation and enhance commerce, has been left on paper while other states move forward.

I have fought tirelessly for these projects, but the state government has refused to act. Instead, a few individuals have hijacked the system, using power to serve themselves while the rest of us are treated as mere spectators in our own state.

The Governor personally asked me to submit names for commissioners—I did. None were appointed.
I made recommendations for chairmen of boards and parastatals—not one was considered.
I advocated for fair representation at the local government level—but political manipulation shut our people out.
I can no longer be part of this failed system.

I leave behind a Governor who has chosen to govern with excuses instead of action, a government that has failed to recognize the value of Anioma’s contributions. But I do not leave behind my people. I carry you with me into a new era of possibilities.

As your representative in the Senate, I have remained steadfast in my commitment to delivering real progress, both legislatively and through direct interventions that impact lives. In less than two years, I have sponsored 26 bills and 22 motions, tackling critical issues affecting our people and the nation. Among them is the Anioma State Creation Bill, which is currently at the committee stage—a clear sign that our long-cherished dream is closer than ever. I am convinced that with the support of the APC-led federal government, Anioma State will be a reality. Other key bills I have championed include the upgrade of the College of Education (Technical) Asaba into a full-fledged Federal University of Technology, the establishment of a Nigeria Defence Academy campus in Kwale, an Orthopedic Hospital at Onicha-Ugbo, and urgent erosion control projects in Agbor, all of which will bring massive development to our region.

Beyond lawmaking, I have directly touched lives through numerous constituency projects and empowerment programs. From road rehabilitation and electrification projects to boreholes providing clean water, I have worked to bridge the development gap neglected by the state government. Through youth and women empowerment schemes, business grants, skill acquisition programs, and agricultural support, I have ensured that our people are not just represented but empowered to thrive. In collaboration with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), I have facilitated several projects, including infrastructure development, education support initiatives and healthcare improvements, many of which are ongoing or about to commence.

Some of the key infrastructure projects secured through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) include:

1. The rehabilitation of the Agbor/Abraka/Eku Road, in three phases, which will enhance connectivity across key towns in our region.

2. The construction of the Abbi Road, which will support the growth of businesses and ease transportation for our people.

3. The construction of the Amai/Ogume Road, which will unlock economic opportunities and improve access to vital services.

4. The installation of solar streetlights at Umutu, helping to enhance security and bring a touch of modernity to our communities.

5. The rehabilitation of the Onicha Ugbo/Idumuje-Ugboko/Ewohimi Road, which will ease travel and foster socio-economic integration in the region.

6. The Asaba-Oko-Okpai-Aboh-Ase Road, an important link for transportation and trade, ensuring our region remains well-connected.

Furthermore, under the 2024 Appropriation Bill, I have secured the following constituency projects, many of which are already complete and bringing immediate benefits to our people:

1. Provision of all-in-one solar street lights in Kwake, Ndokwa West LGA – Completed

2. Provision of all-in-one solar street lights in Idumuje-Ugboko, Aniocha North LGA – Completed

3. Provision of all-in-one solar street lights in Idumuje-Unor, Aniocha North LGA – Completed

4. Provision of all-in-one solar street lights in Onicha-Ugbo, Aniocha North LGA – Completed

5. Provision of all-in-one solar street lights in Asaba, Oshimili South LGA – Completed

6. Construction of solar-powered borehole in Umunede, Ika North East LGA – Completed

7. Construction of solar-powered borehole in Idumuje-Ugboko, Aniocha North LGA – Completed

8. Supply of medical equipment to primary healthcare centers in Aniocha North, Oshimili South, Ndokwa West and Ika North East LGAs – Completed

9. Medical outreach program in Aniocha North and Oshimili South LGAs – Completed

10. Training and empowerment programs for youths, women and farmers in Delta North Senatorial District – Completed

11. Training and provision of security gadgets to security personnel in Delta North Senatorial District – Completed

12. Fencing and rehabilitation of Idumuje-Ugboko police station – Completed

13. Construction of a mini stadium and gaming facility in Issele-Uku, Aniocha North LGA – Ongoing

14. Construction of a 2km road in Idumuje-Ugboko, Aniocha North LGA – Ongoing

In addition, special intervention projects are also underway:

1. Construction of Aniofu Dam in Delta North Senatorial District; pre-feasibility studies – Ongoing

2. Maintenance of Ogwashi-Uku Dam in Aniocha South, Delta North Senatorial District – Ongoing

3. Rehabilitation of failed sections of the Benin-Asaba expressway from the Onitsha head bridge to Alifekede axis in Delta North Senatorial District – Ongoing

These projects represent significant forms of immediate relief to enhance economic growth for the people of Delta North. They are not just roads or lights, they are lifelines. My commitment to do even more sustainable and huge projects that will transform our communities, improve access to healthcare, education and business, and connect us to the broader world, leads me to seek national access and consideration for my people.

Tomorrow, I will join Mr. President in the All Progressives Congress (APC), where development is not just a promise, but a commitment.

I embrace in the APC:

A future where Anioma is respected, not sidelined.

A government that delivers, not one that delays.

Massive infrastructure development that will transform Delta North.

A renewed hope for Anioma State creation because APC has the political will to do what is right.

My beloved Anioma people, this is our moment to move forward together. This is not just my journey. It is our journey towards a future of dignity, fairness and progress. Join me in this movement.

For years, so much money has flowed into Delta State, yet there is so little to show for it in Delta North and Anioma land. How can I, in good conscience, remain loyal to a few so-called party leaders while our people continue to suffer? My loyalty has never been to individuals—it is and will always remain, to the people. I was elected to serve you, to deliver on my promises and to fight for your future. That is what I will continue to do.

To all Anioma sons and daughters in Abuja, I warmly invite you to join me for this historic occasion as I make this declaration on the floor of the Senate tomorrow. Let us stand together, as one, in pursuit of the future our people deserve.

Anioma must rise. Anioma will rise. And together, we will claim our rightful place!

Long live Anioma!
Long live Delta North!
Long live Nigeria!

Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko
Senator, Delta North Senatorial Zone.
