Minister of Works Dave Umahi says President Bola Tinubu is committed to addressing the South-East’s long-standing infrastructure and development challenges.
Umahi said the Federal Government is implementing major projects across the region as part of an effort to improve connectivity, strengthen development and bring South-East communities closer together.
Speaking on the administration’s projects in the region, the minister said Tinubu had given him the responsibility of helping to address some of the challenges facing the South-East.
According to Umahi, his position as a minister from the region has also helped ensure that its infrastructure needs receive greater attention at the federal level.
He said the ongoing projects demonstrate that the administration has a deliberate plan for the South-East and urged residents to recognise the work being carried out.
Umahi stated that the President’s objective goes beyond infrastructure, describing the efforts as part of a broader plan to bring the people of the South-East together and address problems that have persisted over the years.
The minister also suggested that the current interventions could change perceptions about the Federal Government’s commitment to the region.
His comments come as discussions continue over infrastructure, economic development and political inclusion in the South-East.
For many Nigerians in the region and in the diaspora, the development of roads and other critical infrastructure remains closely linked to economic growth, trade and regional integration.Umahi maintained that the projects being delivered under Tinubu are evidence of the administration’s intention to tackle the region’s infrastructure deficit and support its long-term development.
