Troops Neutralize Attackers in Fierce Gunfight, Foil Infiltration Bid
In a display of overwhelming firepower, Nigerian troops successfully repelled a brazen terrorist attack on a forward operating base (FOB) in Bukuyyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, forcing the assailants to flee in disarray.
The attempted breach occurred around 2:45 PM on Thursday, when suspected terrorists launched an infiltration bid on the military installation at FOB Gwashi. However, vigilance and superior firepower turned the tide, according to a counter-insurgency report by Zagazola Makama.
“Sources confirmed that troops responded with devastating precision, engaging the attackers in a fierce exchange and ultimately forcing them to abandon the assault and retreat from the area,” the report detailed.
Quick-thinking commanders immediately mobilized reinforcement troops from neighboring FOBs in Gummi and Bukuyyum to solidify defensive positions and support ongoing clearance operations.
Since the encounter, security forces have ramped up surveillance and patrols, establishing a tight perimeter to prevent any regrouping by the terrorists. Military sources confirmed that there were zero casualties among the troops a testament to their operational readiness and tactical superiority.
The swift and decisive response underscores the military’s determination to deny terrorist groups any freedom of movement in the region, with intelligence-led operations now actively tracking the fleeing attackers to sustain the pressure on criminal networks in the state.
