The apprehension and the fate of kidnapped High Chief and second-in-command (Onowu) to the traditional ruler of Umuisu Ugbawka Community, Nkanu East Local Government of Enugu State has injected fear on the people.
It was reported that Chief Christian Chukwu a.k.a Unongo was picked up at Afor Market Ugbawka, the village market over a week ago.
The kidnappers however, whisked away with his vehicle which was later recovered at a neighbouring Community, Akpawfu, in the same Nkanu East LGA.
According to reports, the kidnappers earlier demanded for N15 million as ransom for his release but, negotiations between the kidnappers and family of the victim eventually reduced the sum to N4m.
However, the money was said to have been paid about five days before this report yet the High Chief has not regained his freedom.
A close family source disclosed that there is apprehension and fear over his safety.
“We have resorted to prayers waiting and hoping that he returns to his family. This is apart from the days since the money was paid,” the source said on Wednesday.
