Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said Osun State deserves better governance, arguing that the state receives enough federal allocation to drive meaningful development.
Akpabio made the statement in Osogbo while campaigning for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of Saturday’s election.
He urged Oyebamiji to use public funds responsibly and prioritise infrastructure, roads and other projects that directly benefit residents if elected.
Akpabio expressed concern over the condition of roads in the state, including the route between Ibadan and Osogbo, where he said potholes remain a major problem.
He also urged the APC candidate to work with the Federal Government to accelerate development and ensure that residents experience the benefits of democracy.
The Senate President said governance should focus on tangible development rather than social media activities, calling on Oyebamiji to make the transformation of Osun a priority.
The comments come as political parties intensify their campaigns ahead of the Osun governorship election, which has attracted widespread attention across Nigeria.
