Anambra airport: Stakeholders thumb up for Obiano, say no more going to other airports for air transport

BY SUNNY DAVID

Major stakeholders in Anambra state have been baring their minds on the benefits of the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport at Umueri in Anambra East local government area of the state.

According to the stakeholders, the airport which experienced the test-run landing of three aircrafts last Friday is a parting gift to Ndi Anambra by Governor Willie Obiano whose administration is gradually coming to an end.

Speaking to our correspondent at the airport, the traditional ruler of Atani, Igwe Augustine Azuka Ngoddy, said that the airport will save Anambra state importers time and other constraints of going to other International airports to transport their goods to Anambra state.

He disclosed that apart from improving the revenue profile of the state, the airport will go a long way in offering employment to the teeming youths.

The monarch commended Governor Willie Obiano for fulfilling his promises to Ndi Anambra and called on the people to support a worthy candidate that will continue with the legacy projects of Governor Obiano as the November sixth governorship election draws near.

Contributing, the chairman of Ogbaru local government council, Arinzechukwu Awogu, described the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport at Umueri as a major legacy project of the Obiano administration which he noted will bring Anambra state more to the world map.

Comrade Awogu urged Ndi Anambra to continue with their support to Governor Willie Obiano and All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA.

He said that apart from the airport project at Umueri, Governor Willie Obiano has through other projects including the International Conference Center in Awka and the upgrade of Awka Township Stadium restored people’s confidence in governance.

The chairman charged youths to tap into the opportunities of the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport to improve their living standards.

Comrade Awogu advised governorship aspirants to play the game according to its rule reminding them the implications of campaign of name calling and hate.

He said Ndi Anambra should remain grateful to Governor Willie Obiano for the airport project which they noted is a clear indication that  Governor Willie Obiano meant well for Ndi Anambra.
