Less than 24 hours to the National Convention of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Pioneer Youth Leaders of the Party met in Abuja and announced the nomination of Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Sa’ad Fakai for the position of the National Organizing Secretary of the party.

The position of the former youth leaders, under the aegis of the Pioneer Youth Leaders of APC Forum, may be against the choice made by the governors under the platform of the party.

They announced that the decision to nominate Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Sa’ad Fakai was based on the need for competence and capacity rather than allowing the state governors to impose someone that is not capable and not known to the party.

Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Sa’ad Fakai , according to the former youths leaders, was the Former APC zonal Youth leader from Kebbi State and North West where the position of the National Organizing Secretary is zoned.

The convener of the meeting and Pionner Youth Leader of the APC in Rivers State, Hon. Daddy K.Gidi, in a chat on telephone, argued that youths of the party nationwide can no longer allow those not aware of the activities and needs of the youths of the party to determine the way forward anymore.

“We have met in Abuja and reviewed the status of the youths of the party since 2015 and we observed that after the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari, the youths were reduced to nothing and without noticeable benefits.

“We have also met and decided that we will support the nomination of one of our own as national organizing secretary of the party tomorrow.”

“We will not allow any imposition from governors or party leaders. We have decided to invest our destiny and support in Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Sa’ad Fakai. The state governors and party elders may have their own choice but the youths are the soldiers and voice of the party. We have chosen our own.”

Also speaking, a pioneer Youth Leader in Bayelsa State, Hon. Edison Sogwe argued that though the name of Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Sa’ad Fakai is suspected to be on the much awaited unity list,” the decision of the youths will further showed that he is acceptable and capable of galvanizing the youths of the party nationwide.

“Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Sa’ad Fakai is the choice of the youths of the party. We are not aware of what the governors say but what the youths say. The governors can no longer determine what we want and we are ready to show capacity in our choice.”
