An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, has urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to meet with APC governors and explain his proposed Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 general election.
Igbokwe made the call while commenting on the disagreement between Wike and APC governors over the proposed cross-party political arrangement. Wike had criticised the governors after they rejected the initiative, while Imo State Governor and chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, said the governors would not support any arrangement that could undermine the APC or President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
According to Igbokwe, Wike remains an important political stakeholder with significant political influence and should not be ignored. However, he said the minister needed to consult with the APC governors and clearly explain his intentions behind the Rainbow Coalition.
Igbokwe said the disagreement should be handled through dialogue rather than public exchanges, stressing the importance of consultation among political stakeholders.
