Delta police engage hoodlums in gun battle, chase fleeing gang members, kill one in Udu

 Delta police on Tuesday engaged hoodlums in exchange of gun fire, killing one while others reportedly escaped.
The incident happened in Ovwian Alaska, suburbs of Udu area of Delta state. In a statement by the police public relations officer, Bright Edafe, the police in Udu acted on a tip off that four gunmen were operating in the area
He said the mobilised men to the scene in conjunction with the local vigilante in the community.
He noted that “the hoodlums on sighting the patrol team opened fire on the team, the team  returned the fire and gun down one of the hoodlums while others escaped.
“One (1) locally made double barrel pistol with two (2) cartridges were recovered. Manhunt for the other suspects is ongoing.”
In a similar vein: “On the 17/3/2021, acting on a distress call from one of the occupants of a building in Urhukpe Oghene layout along jigbale market, that two armed  men were in the compound trying to break in and rob the occupants of the house, the Divisional Police Officer Ovwian Aladja Division SP Samuel Yohanna Kwabe quickly mobilized patrol teams to the scene
“The criminals on sighting the police took to their heels. They were given a hot chase, in the process, they abandoned one locally made pistol with two live cartridges which were recovered. Manhunt for the fleeing suspects is ongoing.”
