Massive infrastructure boost as Delta approves multi-billion naira road project to link communities, cut travel time, and supercharge economic activities.
The Delta State Government has given the green light for the reconstruction of the Otu-Jeremi/Udu Road a monumental N22.69 billion project aimed at transforming road infrastructure and igniting economic growth across the state.
The approval came during the 14th meeting of the Delta State Tenders Board for 2026, held Tuesday at the Government House, Asaba.
The ambitious project will see the complete rehabilitation and reconstruction of the road from the Warri Port Harcourt Expressway at ECN Junction to the DSC Expressway at Udu Road Junction, including a spur leading to Otor-Udu. Spanning parts of Ughelli South and Udu Local Government Areas, the work will be executed by the Ministry of Works (Highways and Urban Roads).
Speaking after the meeting, Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Izeze Reuben, hailed the approval as a clear demonstration of the state’s unwavering commitment to world-class infrastructure.
“This project will improve connectivity between communities, ease the movement of people and goods, and supercharge commercial activities in the affected areas,” Reuben stated.
He emphasized that the reconstruction aligns perfectly with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda a blueprint focused on delivering durable, life-changing infrastructure that raises living standards for Deltans.
The commissioner expressed confidence that upon completion, the road would drastically cut travel time, enhance transportation efficiency, and drive socio-economic development across the corridor.
