Former Bayelsa State Governor and National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has hosted the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, in Abuja as the party intensifies preparations for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
Dickson said Kwankwaso had been entrusted with leading the NDC’s party-building efforts across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a post on his verified X handle on Thursday, Dickson praised Kwankwaso for the work he had carried out within the limited time available.
He said Kwankwaso had met the expectations of the party and expressed appreciation for his contribution to the NDC’s organisational efforts.
According to Dickson, Kwankwaso visited him with a large delegation comprising governorship candidates, National Assembly candidates and other NDC stakeholders from the northern states.
Dickson said he thanked Kwankwaso for deploying his experience, political capacity and extensive network to the assignment.
He also appreciated the party’s leaders and candidates for their cooperation, support and respect.
The former governor said he had spent the past nine months working to strengthen the NDC across the country by meeting with stakeholders, building confidence among members, resolving internal issues and encouraging party members to work with their state leaders.
Dickson said Kwankwaso’s involvement over the previous two weeks had helped resolve several issues that might otherwise have required his direct intervention.
He added that the NDC would act on recommendations arising from Kwankwaso’s engagements with the party’s candidates across the 19 northern states and the FCT.
Dickson expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in the 2027 election, saying the party’s efforts to strengthen its structures would contribute to its electoral campaign.The meeting highlights the NDC’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its political organisation across northern Nigeria as political parties prepare for the next general election.
