Faleke denies rigging allegations as singer’s uncle wins governorship race
In a fiery exchange that has set social media ablaze, House of Representatives member James Faleke has delivered a blistering response to Afrobeats superstar Davido, telling the singer to stick to music while politicians handle the ballot.
The war of words erupted after Davido accused Faleke of pressuring INEC to alter the Osun governorship election results in favor of the APC. The singer, nephew of incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, had taken to X to sound the alarm:
“Hon. James Faleke, stop putting pressure on INEC to change Osun election result. Respect the wishes of Osun people. We don’t want Oyetola and AMBO.”
But Faleke was having none of it.
“I Have Never Rigged Before”
The lawmaker fired back with a sharp retort that quickly went viral:
“INEC is a body that can’t be influenced by me or anyone else. I have never influenced or rigged before and I don’t plan to start now. Face your music while we face our politics.”
Faleke clarified that he was in Osun to support his party’s candidate, just as Davido campaigned for his uncle’s Accord Party.
Davido’s Anti-APC Rant
The exchange followed Davido’s explosive declaration on X:
“I CAN NEVER SUPPORT APC IN MY LIFE!!!”
The singer also appealed to President Bola Tinubu, writing: “Call your pple to order!! @officialABAT”
Final Verdict
INEC officially declared Ademola Adeleke the winner of the Osun governorship election on Sunday morning, putting an end to the heated contest—but the online battle between music and politics rages on.
