Wazirin Katagun’s death leaves a void in Bauchi’s political and traditional landscape, governor says, as he praises the late leader’s legacy of service, integrity, and infrastructural contributions
Governor Bala Mohammed has expressed profound grief over the death of Arc. Audu Sule Katagun, the Wazirin Katagun and former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, describing his passing as a monumental loss that has created an irreplaceable vacuum in the state’s political and traditional fabric.
Katagun died early Monday at Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated public service that spanned decades.
A Life of Service and Humility
In a heartfelt tribute, Governor Mohammed described the late former deputy governor as a loyal and patriotic civil servant who devoted his life to serving humanity with remarkable humility and decorum. He recalled Katagun’s invaluable contributions during his tenure as deputy governor under former Governor Mohammed Abubakar, as well as his recent role as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education, Kangere.
“His commitment to good governance, stability, and the overall development of Bauchi State was exceptional,” the governor stated.
Accomplished Architect and Builder
Beyond politics, Mohammed emphasised Katagun’s distinguished career as an accomplished architectural engineer whose professional expertise significantly shaped Bauchi State’s physical growth and infrastructural landscape. The governor noted that his knowledge, experience, and dedication to excellence played a vital role in promoting sustainable development across the state.
“His enduring legacies will continue to benefit future generations,” Mohammed affirmed.
A Bridge Across Divides
The governor further extolled the late Wazirin Katagum for his wisdom, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of Bauchi State. According to Mohammed, Katagun’s counsel, leadership, and devotion to duty earned him respect across political, traditional, and social divides – a rare quality that made him a unifying figure in the state.
Governor’s Message of Consolation
Mohammed urged the family, associates, the Katagum Emirate, and the entire people of Bauchi State to find solace in the exemplary life and noble accomplishments of the departed statesman.
“His contributions to society will remain indelible in the annals of the state’s history,” the governor said.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the immediate family, the Emir of Katagum, the Katagum Emirate Council, friends, associates, and all those affected by this great loss.
The governor concluded with prayers that Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, would forgive the shortcomings of the departed soul, reward his good deeds, and grant him eternal rest in Aljannah Firdaus.
