Chief Sheriff Mulade has strongly condemned a purported statement circulating on social media alleging that he stepped down from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) primary election for the Warri Federal Constituency and endorsed another aspirant.
In a statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity of Team Chief Sheriff Mulade Campaign Organization, Comrade Friday Ugedi, the camp described the publication as “fake, fraudulent, concocted and the handiwork of desperate, bad-faith individuals.”
The statement maintained that Chief Mulade neither conceded defeat nor withdrew from the race, insisting that he remains the duly elected winner of the NDC primary election for the Warri Federal Constituency.
According to the campaign organization, the alleged concession statement was fabricated by political opponents unsettled by what it described as Mulade’s “overwhelming, massive and landslide victory” during the party primary.
“The authors of this malicious publication are political merchants of falsehood whose only objective is to create confusion, mislead party faithful and manipulate public perception after suffering a humiliating rejection by delegates across the Warri Federal Constituency,” the statement said.
The campaign further stressed that at no point did Chief Mulade issue any statement conceding defeat, stepping down from the contest, or endorsing another aspirant.
It accused unnamed political actors of resorting to “forgery, propaganda and dissemination of fake statements” in a bid to undermine the outcome of the primary election.
The statement also noted that Chief Mulade continues to enjoy widespread support among party members, youths, women and stakeholders across Warri North, Warri South and Warri South-West Local Government Areas.
Calling on the public, party faithful and members of the media to disregard the circulating statement, the campaign insisted that it did not emanate from Chief Mulade or his political structure.
“Chief Sheriff Mulade remains committed to the ideals of democracy, transparency and justice, and is confident that the authentic results of the primary election will stand the test of scrutiny,” the statement added.
The organization concluded by reaffirming that the mandate freely given to Chief Mulade by delegates remains valid and intact despite attempts to discredit the process.
“No amount of blackmail, misinformation, forgery or political desperation can overturn the mandate freely given to Chief Sheriff Mulade by delegates of the Warri Federal Constituency,” the statement noted.
