Suspected kidnappers have abducted two farmers in Ifira, Ondo State, dragging them from their farm path into a dense forest and now they’re demanding a staggering N10 million ransom for their release.
The victims, both residents of the agrarian Akoko South-East community, were ambushed mid-morning on their way to work, according to local sources. Their families, frantic and desperate, have since reported the incident to both the police and the Amotekun security network.
“We’ve done all we can—reported to the police and Amotekun. Now we’re begging the government and security agencies to bring our brothers back alive,” a relative pleaded.
While families confirm the kidnappers have made contact with the N10 million demand, the police insist they have no official knowledge of any ransom request.
Ondo Police spokesperson DSP Jimoh Abayomi said a massive joint operation is already sweeping through the Oke-Ifira/Idogun forest, involving the Police, Army, Amotekun, hunters, Agbekoya, and local volunteers.
“Search and rescue is in full force. We’re deploying every intelligence and operational asset to find the victims and arrest the criminals,” Abayomi stated, while appealing for public tips promising confidentiality.
He urged residents to stay calm, vigilant, and report anything suspicious.
