Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has sounded the alarm over an alleged opposition scheme to purchase Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from unsuspecting residents, urging citizens to safeguard their voting rights at all costs.
In a statement issued Thursday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor revealed that opposition agents are reportedly targeting voters with monetary offers in a coordinated bid to extract PIN numbers and photocopies of PVCs ahead of the August 15 elections.
The alleged plot, according to Adeleke, aims to disenfranchise registered voters by disrupting their polling locations and manipulating the electoral process. Local governments with strong Accord Party followership are said to be prime targets.
“The opposition agents are going as far as making voters swear oaths to receive inducements in exchange for their card details,” the governor disclosed. “This is an evil plot to deny you your voting rights.”
Adeleke described the activities as “illegal and anti-democratic,” calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to investigate reports of alleged “insider collusion” within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Your PVC is your power to vote and elect your leaders,” the governor declared. “Don’t sell it for money. Osun APC wants to stop you from voting. Don’t submit your cards!”
