Arsenal remain determined to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen despite Galatasaray’s warning that the forward will not be sold before the end of the summer transfer window.
The Premier League champions have explored a move for Osimhen while Galatasaray negotiate deals involving Arsenal players Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri.
Osimhen, 27, has been linked with the Premier League for several years and came close to joining Chelsea two years ago. He was instrumental in Napoli’s 2023 Serie A title victory and has since played a major role in Galatasaray’s consecutive league triumphs.
Since joining Galatasaray from Napoli for €75 million (£65 million), Osimhen has scored 59 goals in 74 matches.
The Nigerian international recently acknowledged the transfer speculation surrounding his future, saying there are always rumours during transfer windows.
However, Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek has insisted that Osimhen will not be sold under any circumstances.
The Turkish club have already rejected a reported €130 million (£111 million) offer from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, highlighting their determination to retain the striker.
Despite Galatasaray’s stance, Turkish publication Sozcu reports that Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta remain determined to secure Osimhen’s services.
Arsenal have also maintained a long-standing interest in Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez. However, Atletico are reportedly demanding at least £150 million for the Argentine, making Osimhen a potentially more attainable target for the Gunners.
