Delta State Task Force on Environment has commenced evacuation of moribund vehicles and demolition of illegal structures on walk ways, highway

Some of the affected areas of the exercise of members of the task force which include battle ready government security agents included Airport and Jakpa Roads in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.

Scores of illegal structures built on walk ways in the Warri Garage area in Warri South Local Government Area were demolished.

Speaking exclusively to our correspondent during the last Delta State monthly environmental exercise, a member of the task force, Comrade Iweka Odiaka, who stood in for the chairman, Hon Solomon Oromoni, vowed that the task force would implement Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s Smart Agenda of a clean environment without fear or favour.

Odiaka disclosed that the evacuated moribund vehicles were toyed to Government House Annex, Edjeba, Warri and urged Deltans to imbibe the spirit of clean environment,

While warning against indiscriminate dumping of refuse, he advised commercial vehicle owners to have refuse disposals in their vehicles, saying: “All hands must be on deck to make Delta a cleaner state.”

Meanwhile, Comrade Odiaka had accused members of Lower Erejuwa Motor Spare Parts Association of making the canal in the area their refuse dump.

However, the Vice Chairman of the association,  Comrade Emeka Odili, refuted the accusation, as he said that members of the association did their environmental sanitation exercise at the last Thursday of the month and that they were even commended by a member of the taskforce, Comrade Omoefe.
