National Vice President of Committee for the Defense of Human Rights (CDHR), Kehinde Taiga, has blame the challenges in the country on people who have constituted themselves as cabals and siphoning the wealth of the country for their personal gain.

Taiga said the cabals have held the nation down for years and have refused to release the wealth of the nation for the use of the Nigerian people. He said the cabals do not want to leave power for the younger generation to take over the leadership of the nation.

He believes that the activities of the cabals have, to a great extent, hindered the growth and development of Nigeria, noting that by now the country would have made great progress but for the stranglehood of the cabals.

In a statement he made on June 12 to celebrate MKO Abiola, the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, he said the cabals must give way so that Nigerian people can enjoy the meaning and dividends of true democracy.

His statement is hereby reproduced below:

Distinguished Nigerians, I join millions all over the world to celebrate our dear country Nigeria in this year Democracy Day.

Today’s celebration is a reminder of the fact that the Nigeria nation has been denied ruthlessly the enjoyment of what democracy is all about when about 26 years ago the then president, General Ibrahim Gbadamosi Babangida annulled the presidential election that was supposedly won by Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.

Many years after, it was in the acceptance of his electoral victory after 26 years that the government of President Mohammadu Buhari accepted the election result and declared the late M.K.O Abiola as the winner of the 1993 presidential election.

And instead of us as a country experiencing and enjoying democracy, we are rather witnessing CABACRACY, which has made a few who belong to the CABACRACY keep on enjoying the true meaning of democracy.

As a result of the huge corruption syndrome that has bedeviled our political elite, gives birth to the CABACRACY that keeps depriving us the true meaning of democracy.

I believe that once we learn how to practice sovereignty as a country, where the power, rather than belonging to few group of individuals, will be available to entire Nigerians, we will begin to enjoy and experience what democracy is actually all about.

I therefore use this opportunity to call on all our political office holders to exhibit whatever it takes to make Nigeria and Nigerians experience what democracy is all about, so that the sacrifice of our heroes past won’t be in vain.

It is my prayer that the Almighty God will take us from where we are as a nation to where we are supposed to be in Jesus name. AMEN!!!.

HAPPY DEMOCRACY DAY NIGERIA.

GOD BLESS CDHR!!!

GOD BLESS THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA!!
