Former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez has defended Cristiano Ronaldo against long-standing claims that the Portuguese superstar is arrogant, arguing that many people misunderstand the mentality required to become one of football’s greatest players.

He explained that Ronaldo’s confidence comes from years of relentless dedication, discipline and hard work rather than from disrespect toward others. In his view, the Portuguese icon maintains an elite mentality every day, constantly striving to improve despite already having won nearly every major trophy in world football.
Chicharito noted that there is no “off switch” in Ronaldo’s pursuit of excellence, describing him as someone who remains fully committed to being the best at every moment. He said such an attitude is essential for any athlete hoping to reach the highest level and remain there for many years.
Ronaldo’s career supports that reputation. Since joining Real Madrid in 2009, he became the club’s all-time leading scorer with 451 goals in 438 appearances. During his time in Spain, he helped the club win four UEFA Champions League titles, multiple domestic trophies and several individual honours before continuing his career in Italy, England and Saudi Arabia.
Now playing for Al-Nassr, Ronaldo continues to attract global attention for his performances and remarkable longevity. Even in his forties, he remains one of football’s biggest stars, with his professionalism and commitment frequently praised by teammates and coaches.
