Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has cast his ballot in the state’s ongoing governorship election, setting the tone for a day marked by early enthusiasm among residents.
Adeleke arrived at Polling Unit 009, Ward 02, Abogunde Compound, in Ede North Local Government Area at approximately 8:10 a.m. and promptly exercised his franchise. His hometown, Ede, witnessed a surge of early voters, with some arriving as early as 6:40 a.m. to secure their place in line. Similar scenes played out in parts of Ilesha and Osogbo, where residents turned out in large numbers to participate in the crucial vote.
Vehicles were seen shuttling voters and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to various polling stations ahead of the exercise, underscoring the determination of citizens to make their voices heard.
Security was heavily reinforced across Ede North and Ede South local government areas, with checkpoints erected to enforce the restriction on vehicular movement. Personnel from the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were visibly stationed at several polling units, maintaining order even before INEC officials and election materials arrived.
Local election observers were also on the ground at various locations, closely monitoring the preparatory processes.
However, while accreditation and voting had commenced in some areas, INEC officials had not yet pasted the register of eligible voters at several other polling units visited by our correspondent.
Despite these minor logistical lags, the early turnout remained strong across the state, as voters in Ilesha, Osogbo, and beyond expressed their determination to choose the next leader of Osun State.
