Rt Hon.Ndudi Elumelu, the immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC Delta State Returning Officer, Chief Val Areyinka, announced Elumelu as the winner at the party’s central collation centre located at the Oshimili South Local Government Event Centre in Asaba.
The direct primary election was conducted across the 42 wards in the four local government areas that make up the federal constituency.
With the victory, Elumelu becomes the APC candidate for the Aniocha/Oshimili House of Representatives seat in the 2027 elections.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies monitored the exercise.
Speaking after the announcement, Elumelu thanked party leaders, stakeholders and members of the APC for entrusting him with the party’s ticket.
He described his emergence as a humbling experience and pledged to continue working for the development of the constituency.
The former Minority Leader also appreciated God, his family and supporters, especially his elder brother, Dr. Tony Elumelu, for their encouragement and support throughout the process.
Elumelu commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said had strengthened the APC nationwide.
He also praised Sheriff Francis Oborevwori for implementing the MORE Agenda in Delta State, adding that the administration had helped increase support for the APC in the state.
The APC candidate further acknowledged the contributions of former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the APC National Working Committee, the Delta State Working Committee and members of the Ndudi Elumelu Campaign Council led by Dr. Darlington Ijeh.
According to Elumelu, his victory reflects the confidence party members and constituents have in his leadership and representation.
He stated that residents of the constituency were eager for a return to what he described as impactful representation at the National Assembly.
Elumelu recalled that during his previous tenure in the House of Representatives, several projects were attracted to the constituency in areas such as education, agriculture, healthcare, road infrastructure, housing and electricity.
He assured constituents that, if elected, he would provide stronger representation and greater visibility for the federal constituency in the National Assembly.
The former lawmaker also said he had already outlined plans to attract more development projects, job opportunities and empowerment programmes for the people.
Describing the APC ticket as a “unity ticket,” Elumelu urged party members to remain united and work together for the success of the APC in the 2027 general elections.
He also appealed to other aspirants, including Hon. Ngozi Lawrence Okolie, and aggrieved party members to embrace sportsmanship and support the party in the overall interest of the constituency.
