The Delta state police command has recovered a stolen vehicle, one fabricated double barrel pistol and live cartridges in Sapele area of the state.
A statement made available to Emerald News and signed by Bright Edafe, a deputy superintendent of police DSP and command’s public relations officer, said a patrol team attached to Sapele Division while on operation show of force, saw a Toyota Camry car with Reg NO. GRA 291 RL being driven in a suspicious manner.
He said the manner in which the vehicle was driven made the patrol team to go after the suspected car and chased them non-stop to the Olympia area of the ancient city.
He said the suspects, on noticing this development, opened fire at the policemen who in turn did the same.
According to him, on seeing that they cannot withstand the fire strength from the patrol team, they dashed off into the bush leaving the said vehicle behind.
After a thorough search was carried upon the suspected vehicle, locally made double barrel pistol and five live cartridges were recovered.
As at the time of this report, investigations are ongoing and efforts are being made to apprehend the perpetuators who are on the run.
