Tuesday inauguration of Ghanaian President John Mahama erupted into a huge carnival as Senator Ned Nwoko and his Nollywood wife, Regina Daniels made special appearance, igniting excitement amidst a large gathering of African youths.
It was a mix of Senator Nwoko’s charismatic flavour and enchanting poise of his celebrity spouse, Regina as a mammoth crowd of excited fans, welcome them with drumming and dancing in Accra the capital of Ghana.
The jubilant fans who instantly recognized the famous couple, Senator Nwoko and Actress Regina, trooped out to take memorable pictures and selfies.
From Ghana’s flagship airport, Kotoka to the iconic Black Star Square, venue of the presidential inauguration, the popular duo received endless admiration and ovation.
Dignitaries from Africa and the international community including over 60 serving and past heads of state, governors, senators, diplomats and chief executives of global firms among others had a chummy liaison with Senator Nwoko and Regina who were the cynosure of all eyes.
Speaking to local and foreign journalists at the presidential swearing- in ceremony, Senator Nwoko said Ghana was a great model of democracy as the country’s election was won and lost peacefully.
The Delta North Senator said “Mahama’s political contender ,Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia conceded defeat calmly, reminiscent of Mohammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan in 2015,” urging other nations to emulate the Ghana and Nigeria experience.
“The scenario in Ghana today is commendable.We don’t need cloak and dagger politics in Africa or anywhere else. Enough of politics of bitterness. When you win you govern ,when you lose accept it with calm.The growth of Africa depends on free, peaceful and viable democracy.
“Ghana and Nigeria share a lot in common. Both are frontline African states which gained independence from British colonial rule in 1960 and 1957 respectively.They are the biggest economies in Africa with rich history and enterprising people.
“I extend warm congratulations to President Mahama and expect him to join forces with President Bola Tinubu to lead Africa to political and economic prosperity”
Mahama 66, who pledged in his inauguration address to “reset Ghana in all fronts” was sworn- in as the sixth president along with Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the first woman to become vice president in Ghana.
