Delta State Deputy Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Chief Mrs. Esther Ikule, has opened the can of worms on the Delta North Vice Chairman of the party, Peter Okeagwu Isioma, accusing him of anti-party activities in the state.
Mrs. Ikule made the accusation on Friday April 28th 2023 while briefing journalists in Warri, on an unfounded allegation of demarketing SDP and planned suspension of the governorship candidate of the party in the March 18th 2023 election, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi.
Chief Ikule alleged that the Delta North Vice Chairman of SDP is a grandmaster when it comes to anti-party activities.
While describing his action as one who eats from the “crumbs that fall from the master’s table”, she urged him and his co-travellers to look elsewhere as Gbagi, remains an invaluable asset to the party.
The Deputy Chairman, who said Okeagwu, was a blackleg in the party said: “We have caught them. They are the ones engaged in anti-party,” she said.
She regretted that the party has been reduced to a beggarly one by its leadership, “they have reduced most of the great minds who came in with wonderful ideas to myopic politicians”.
She noted that because they couldn’t do same to the former minister of state for education, hence they decided to toe the path of dragging him before the media, a move she said was dead on arrival.
She hinted that the coming of the renowned criminologist into the party actually made the party to be known for the social justice and movement the party truly stands for.
According to her, “Hon. Peter Okeagwu, the Vice Chairman, Delta North, was one time member of the electoral screening committee.
“Right from the first encounter with Olorogun Barr Kenneth Gbagi, he was suspected to be a spy which he confirmed and pleaded for forgiveness when he (Okeagwu) was caught doing anti-party by the committee that was set up by the state chairman.
“The committee recommended his forgiveness with a close watch after then. When a pot starts calling the kettle black, you should know he has forgotten whom he really is.
She warned that it was totally out of place for Peter Okeagwu to accuse Olorogun Barr Kenneth Gbagi of playing anti-party.
Ikule alleged that Peter Okeagwu must be very good in the business of anti-party negotiation to the extent of even betraying his master to cross-carpert to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for an alleged deal with Ovie Omo-Agege to make more money.
The SDP leader said that as a “good party man and leader, an internal crisis should never make you to work against your party’s victory as the victory is met for the entire SDP and not a victory for Olorogun Barr Kenneth Gbagi alone”.
She disclosed that the party would respond to those who are members of the party but do not support the governorship bid of Gbagi, the SDP’s standard-bearer.
“It is a victory for all. Anti-party is a grievous offence which at the appropriate time those who play anti-party to sabotage SDP in the just concluded general election will be sanction and shown the exit door”, she declared.
